Question : What is a Kindle in the first place?
Answer : Its an electronic portable e-book reader that can store your e-books electronically and you can read them from its e-ink screen, a screen that is as readable as normal paper!
See more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Kindle
& also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_Ink
See Kindle Here -–>
If you are one of those people who reads more than 5 books per year then a Kindle is definitely for you. According to a report by the Cleantech Group, the Kindle is more environmentally friendly than paper books.
The publishing industry is one of the most polluting sectors in the world. In 2008, The U.S. Book and newspaper industries combined resulted in the harvesting of 125 million trees.
The report by the Cleantech Group, titled "The Environmental Impact of Amazon’s Kindle" looks at the emissions that devices could produce and prevent. According to the report, a single Kindle displaces the purchase of 22.5 books each year which results in an estimated carbon savings of 168 kg of CO2. It also says that if the full storage of the Kindle is used then the device prevents almost 11,185 kg of CO2 from being released. That is a significant amount and could help the environment drastically especially with sales of the Kindle expecting to touch 14.4 million in 2012.

The Cleantech Group also forecasts that e-readers purchased from 2009 to 2012 could prevent an estimated 5.3 billion kg of carbon dioxide in 2012 or 9.9 billion kg during the four year time period.
According to the study done by Emma Rich, the Amazon Kindle still has a significant edge when taking into account the manufacture and mining required to produce an electronic device.
This is what Emma Rich had to say in her conclusion; "The roughly 168 kg of CO2 produced throughout the Kindle’s lifecycle is a clear winner against the potential savings: 1,074 kg of CO2 if replacing three books a month for four years; and up to 26,098 kg of CO2 when used to the fullest capacity of the Kindle DX. Less-frequent readers attracted by decreasing prices still can break even at 22.5 books over the life of the device,"
They also noted that the production of a Kindle produces 168 kg of CO2 compared to 7.46 kg of CO2 for a book. They say this citing sources that electronic readers need electricity to run.
They argue that the electronic reader industry can only make a significant impact once people start mass movements from paper media. "A user that purchasers fewer than 22.5 books per year would take longer to neutralize the emissions resulting from the e-reader, and even longer to help reduce emissions attributed to the publishing industry," according to the study.
It comes down to whether people continue to buy books or print papers along with an e-book. The question then is; Are you going to buy an e-book? If so, will you purchase more than 22.5 books per year?

Fraps is a universal Windows application that can be used with all games using DirectX or OpenGL technology. In its current form Fraps performs many tasks and can best be described as:
Benchmarking Software - See how many Frames Per Second (FPS) you are getting in a corner of your screen. Perform custom benchmarks and measure the frame rate between any two points. Save the statistics out to disk and use them for your own reviews and applications.
Screen Capture Software - Take a screenshot with the press of a key! There’s no need to paste into a paint program every time you want to capture the screen. Your screen captures are also automatically named and timestamped.
Realtime Video Capture Software - Have you ever wanted to record video while playing your favourite game? Come join the Machinima revolution! Throw away the VCR, forget about using a DV cam, game recording has never been this easy! Fraps can capture audio and video up to 1152×864 and 100 frames per second! All movies are recorded in outstanding quality.
Fraps has support for Vista and DirectX 10 games. Since the Vista Desktop Window Manager (DWM) runs through DirectX you can now take screenshots and record video from the desktop just like any other game or 3D application in Vista.

Microsoft continues to offer free copies of its Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems for download, in a tradition that started approximately a couple of years back.
Earlier this week, the Redmond company has updated the range of offerings that provide users with free copies of the two supported Windows clients preceding Windows 7. The lineup of downloads delivers three copies of XP and two of Vista for a total of five free Windows downloads packaged as VHD images.
Following the release of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft began offering web developers the necessary resources to streamline content testing on IE6 and IE7, at that time. With the advent of Internet Explorer 8, the software giant added yet another browser to the list. Web developers come across various problems when it comes down to building websites that will work seamlessly across IE6, IE7 and IE8, especially because of the way Microsoft understood to tailor each browser to web standards.
So in a way, the Redmond company is redeeming its web standards-non compliant ways by offering the Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image. The downloads offer “VPC Hard Disk Images for testing websites with different Internet Explorer versions on Windows XP and Windows Vista,” according to Microsoft. Specifically fully functional copies of Vista and XP, preloaded with different versions of Internet Explorer, designed to be run in Virtual PC 2007 or in Windows Virtual PC, and streamline testing.
As was the case with previous Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image releases from Microsoft, the latest offerings are time bombed. Microsoft informed that copies of Windows XP were set to expire at the start of 2010, and Vista could be used for no more than four months.
NOTE: In order to use the below Virtual Hard Disk Images you will need to download and install Microsoft Virtual PC

Microsoft has confirmed that upgrade editions of Windows 7 will be available in Europe when the new operating system launches on October 22. The company had previously said that only full version would be on offer.
The initial limitation of a full, clean-install only edition was part of the plans for Windows 7 E, a version of Windows that did not come with Internet Explorer and would be the only version available in the EU. Because previous versions of Windows all contain Internet Explorer, Microsoft argued that there could not be upgraded to a version without the browser. However, they have since decided to instead introduce a ballot screen for consumers to choose which browser they want to use, meaning that the idea of Windows 7 E was scrapped.
In a posting today at the Windows 7 Team Blog, Brandon LeBlanc confirms that countries in the EU will receive the same version of Windows 7 that is available to the rest of the world. He also states that because upgrade editions will be on offer in Europe, Microsoft will now also be selling the Windows 7 Family Pack - which contains upgrade editions - in selected European countries.
The Family Pack has already been announced for the US and Canada and provides a set of three upgrade licences of Windows 7 Home Premium at a reduced cost. The Family Pack will be on sale as a limited offer from the October 22 launch date of Windows 7. As well as the US and Canada, it will now be available in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands and Sweden as well.
Clarification has also been offered to customers who have already pre-ordered the now-defunct Windows 7 E. These consumers will be shipped a full versions of Windows 7, as will anybody who pre-orders before September 1st when the upgrade editions will start to become available for pre-order. If you are looking to save a few pennies (or cents) then you will be happy to hear that all full editions of Windows 7 ordered before September 1 - including those already pre-ordered - will cost the same as the cheaper upgrade versions available after that date. From September 1 onwards the price of the full versions will increase.
This finally seems to be some good news for any Europeans wanting to do an upgrade-install of Windows 7 from an earlier version of the Windows OS. You can pre-order Windows 7 now from Microsoft’s online store and selected retail partners, or wait until September 1 to purchase an upgrade edition.

We imagine that Dorthy.com will be the but of some jokes as the site has raised $4M to serve as a search aid to help in dream fulfillment. However, we think that if implemented well the site could do well. Look at a somewhat comparable site like Experience Project - a social network for people who want to share similar life experiences and aspirations - its traffic continues to peak.
The startup was founded in 2007 by Jordan English Gross, under the parent company Saber Seven, Inc which was created in partnership with Chris and Greg Coyne of The Coyne Brothers. There is not much here in the way of novel technology, but it does seem to be good marketing presentation and a world that is a bit beaten down looking for tools to help them to dream again.
