When you install ubuntu with WUBI a virtual disk is created and everything from linux is kept 
there…
So when you boot into UBUNTU and you want to access the main disk that hosts the virtual disk, you cant see it.
But in reality it is mounted in a location (folder or directory) called HOST!
You can browse to it inside of gnome or kde gui by going to places, computer, file system, host.

Question: Is there any way at all to make Office 2003 apps display their toolbars
and menus in Office 2000 style, or at least without the color gradients?
Anything at all - registry values, add on tweakers, etc?

Answer: YES you have the following 3 options
Option 1: use classic menus for office 2007 (payware)

Result seen in image below is that you have the old type of menu and toolbar along with the old drop down options:
Option 2:
Use one of the classic high contrast themes in windows (the ones for the
visually impaired)
here is the result using classic> high contrast white. However this affects all the interface of windows, but of course you can switch back easily.
Option 3) lower the screen colors to 256 while using word
the result is this>
Normally xp and vista don’t let you lower to 256 colors
but you can do it with a free program from greenparrots
scroll down the bottom of this page and you will see the free edition on the
LEFT

The pro edition claims that lets you also define ONE application to launch
with low color but I have not tried it..
