Thankfully I don’t have to deal with IIS, but if you do, this may be good news for you.

A Windows Vista gadget that supports Barak Obama. Doesn’t really have much functionality, but if you like looking at his face and hearing him say “Hello, I am Barak Obama” then this is right up your alley.

If your looking for a change in your desktop appearance and behavior, you might want to try the freeware version of
Real Desktop. It gives your ordinary desktop new life and turns it into
a next generation 3D Interactive Desktop.
The recommended system requirements are as follows:
- Windows® XP / Vista
- Windows® DirectX 9.0c
- AMD ATHLON™ XP 2400+ or higher (alternatively Intel® Pentium® 4)
- 512 MB main memory
- DirectX able graphic card: 128 MB NVIDIA® Geforce™ 6 or better,
ATI® Radeon™ 9700 or better - Screen resolution 1280 x 1024 at True Color (16 million colours)
- Internet connection
My initial thoughts were the amount of resources it probably uses up, but I was surprised to see it didnt take that much memory compared to my Firefox browser.

Also I loved how you can configure it to look the way you want with wallpaper and backgrounds giving it your personal touch.
You can stack icons, drag them anywhere on the desktop and flip them around. The Recycle Bin becomes a three-dimensional trash can. This certainly looks like a feature that could be a part of the next release of Windows 7 perhaps.
Its a free license to use if you get the lite version.
Download it for free instantly from the developers website.

There are two ways to run several operating systems on your computer. You can run them with virtualization inside one another, or you can install them alongside each other and boot each individually, this is the easiest method for most users.
You don’t even have to create a dual boot system with Linux, in this case, Ubuntu. It can be installed by itself without Vista or any other operating installed first. Most users purchasing a new computer will find Vista installed so this is the route I will take for this tutorial.
Let’s take a look at installing Ubuntu alongside Vista on a computer, assuming Vista is installed first as this will cover most instances. (more…)

Is Windows Vista Faster Than XP?
Our Windows Vista coverage began with a hands-on diary by MobilityGuru’s Barry Gerber, followed by an assessment of gameplay under Windows Vistaby graphics presidente Darren Polkowski, as well as a complete feature rundown of Vista. Barry took the new operating system and its look & feel with a grain of salt, while Darren was disappointed because OpenGL support was dropped along the way, meaning that Windows Vista currently offers horrible performance for graphics applications utilizing the Open Graphics Library.
We are sure that mainstream users will appreciate the improved usability of Windows Vista, and the average office/multimedia user will likely never notice the lack of OpenGL. However, a chapter on the overall performance of Windows Vista requires more dedication. In particular, two things require an in-depth analysis: (more…)

Some times you need to boot in safe mode when you are not able to start your system normally because of many reason. When you boot Windows Vista into
'Safe Mode', the operating system will have reduced functionality, meaning that it will disable many non-core components and devices. This is because you will be able to solve your problems.
In order to access the
Advanced Boot Options window, you must wait for the system to initialize. Then quickly press the 'F8' key just before the Windows Vista loading screen appears.

In the
Advanced Boot Options window you can choose from several boot options. When you select a boot option, in the description field you can see what that option actually does.
Now as you have finished doing for whatever reason you had entered
Safe Mode. You can normally restart the system so that it restarts in normal mode.

Some of you may have noticed that after installing Windows Vista SP1 on Windows Vista Ultimate - the Language Packs fail to appear on Windows Update (
KB947875).
We will be releasing Windows Vista SP1 in two "waves". The first wave will only provide Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista Ultimate PCs running the following 5 Languages: English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. The second wave will follow shortly after - supporting all 36 languages.
For Windows Update, PCs running the 5 initial languages from the first wave only will be provided with Windows Vista SP1. PCs running Windows Vista Ultimate with any of the other Language Packs installed will not be offered Windows Vista SP1 through Windows Update until they are released. Once the Language Packs are released, Windows Vista SP1 will then be offered for installation.
When installing Windows Vista SP1 from the standalone installer, the standalone installer will only install on Windows Vista Ultimate running any of the 5 languages from the first wave. When installing Windows Vista SP1 on Windows Vista Ultimate with a Language Pack that is not one of the 5 initial Language Packs supported - you will get the following error (KB947876) when attempting to install Windows Vista with the standalone installer:
